School - 1

I hope everyone is doing well. Today let me share something related to me. And I will be glad to see your comments about your thoughts for the same. Let me tell you that it would be better if you all shared your problems or issues cause this blog is all about connecting with Ya' all. 

I study in Kendriya Vidyalaya, a central government-run school all over India and in some other countries also. So, I am in one of the winter zone KVs, and we get winter vacations for 50 days from around 1st week of December to 3rd week of January. I am in Class 11th right now and our session of 2022-23 started from 1st August 2022. We had regular classes and then Periodic Test-1(PT-1).

After the PT-1, we studied for the half yearly and barely completed our syllabus in school being provided with only some important questions for some chapters. The last paper of half yearly was on the 1st of December and our vacations started from 3rd December. 

On 3rd January, we were provided with the Date Sheet/Schedule of PT-3 Examination on the class WhatsApp Group with the papers starting from 24th of January. With the date sheet, our homeroom or class teacher informed us that the respective subject teachers will be sharing the syllabus of this exam with us and that we had to prepare for the exams in the holidays itself.

Some Facts:

2 Jan - Economics Syllabus of PT-3 sent in Commerce group

4 Jan - Economics Syllabus of PT-3 revised and sent in Commerce group 

6th Jan - History teacher sends notes of a chapter (don't know the syllabus right now; whether it will be in this exam or not)

9th Jan - English Syllabus of PT-3 sent in group (shared in Commerce group on 6 Jan)

             - History Syllabus of PT-3 sent in group

12 Jan - Geography Syllabus of PT-3 sent in group

13 Jan - Date Sheet for Final Examination sent in group

15 Jan - Physical Education Teacher informs that he will be sharing 20 questions with us for PT-3 and that we prepare them 

(No syllabus, 😑no nothing... OP!!)

18 Jan - 17 Questions of Physical Education shared in the subject group

23 Jan - Political Science Syllabus of PT-3 sent in group

24 Jan - English Syllabus of PT-3 revised and sent in group 

I wonder if it is the responsibility of a school to complete the syllabus or not? If it's not, then why do we go to school? 

Is school solely for this syllabus completion or should they provide students something else too? Is a student's character building necessarily a responsibility of schools or is it a way to extort money from rich parents in the so-called prestigious schools? Is character building not needed for the common people?

What about the co-curricular activities for which there are assigned times in the timetable of a school? Are they just to be shown to everyone on the paper? If a school has kept two periods of 40 minutes each on Saturdays as CCA (Co-curricular Activities), should the students be told to sit quietly in the classrooms, or should they be given some opportunity?
